Superstition hike

November 27, 2024

The 'kids' took the bikes for a ride this morning. Annika decided she would like to ride Alesa's touring bike and figured they would be happier riding by themselves, so we had enough bikes. This afternoon, Jeff went with us to The Lost Dutchman state park and we all hiked the trail to the base of the Superstition mountains. The trail was 3.7 miles long with an elevation rise of 522 feet. We all did well but I did have to rest at the top and my knee started to ache at the end but my back did fine. We did see a roadrunner and Sam lifted may rocks looking for scorpions and Lord know what else. The 'kids' climbed to the top of most of the large rock outcroppings and all had a great time. We then drove a little farther into the desert hills to a scenic overlook view of Canyon Lake on the Salt river. On the way back we stopped at the Goldfield Ghost town for a visit and an ice cream cone.
