Train, The Villages and Craig & Janet
Sunday we stopped for coffee at WaWa and drove to Lorton, VA and had a bite to eat across from the station before driving in at about noon, handing off the car to be loaded and sitting in the station waiting to get on the train. We boarded at two thirty and the train departed at four. We had dinner at six and had our room converted for sleeping at eight. The trip seemed a little jerkier this time and at one point the train was stopped for an hour as the engineer walked outside the train to find an uncoupled hose and reconnect it. Regardless of the delays we arrived in Sanford only a half an hour late at nine thirty on Monday. I again had the upper bunk and we both slept OK, not great but OK. The meals were good and we met with interesting tablemates at dinner and breakfast. Our roomette was on the lower level and near the family room. It was fine as we had a lot of restrooms nearby but were occasionally bothered by loud talking kids or kids in the hall. As usual, the car took time to be retrieved for us. It was in the front of the railcar but it was in the fifth of six railcars to be unloaded. We got to The Villages around twelve thirty and stopped to see Mike Monahan for an hour or so. Dan Marx came over while we were there. We checked out our old house and stopped to see the ladies but they weren't there. Then over to see my cousin Paul and his wife Carol for another great visit. We also stopped to see the Fales but they weren't home so we called and they were on their way home from a weekend in Orlando. We had sundaes at McD's and drove to Craig & Janet's. Arrived around four and visited and caught up. Janet prepared a nice dinner for us and after more visiting we unpacked the car and retired early. This morning Craig & Janet played Pickleball while we slept late and had coffee at WaWa. Their A/C had failed a couple of days ago due to a clogged drain line. It has been fixed but today Craig and I went to Lowes to buy the material to reroute the line to preclude any future problem. We redid the line while Janet and Alesa deadheaded the flowers in their garden. We then had an early dinner at Chedder's and stopped at Cosco for gas and treats. We will be back on the road early tomorrow heading home.
