The Trip North
Had a Christmas party on Thursday night with Alesa's Silver Dragons Dragon Boat club and left Friday morning after 8 and headed north in a light rain. It cleared quickly and we had good weather and traffic as we headed toward Alesa's cousin in McGaheysville, VA. We arrived about 6 in Ft. Chiswell and spent the night at a very nice Super 8 motel. (Where I-77 and I-81 cross in Virginia.) It was cold and very windy and we braved a mini blizzard as we headed to dinner. No accumulation but had to scrape the windshield in the morning. We arrived at Mary Hulvey's at 11 and had lunch with Mary, her daughter Sharon, her son Mike and his wife Ruth. Mary is 95 and we are looking forward to her 100th. Stopped at Lisa's cousin Jeff's Christmas party around 6 and took Elyse to a Christmas party and then watched the game at Mikes house before crashing for the night. Mike is frolfing this morning and everybody else walked over to the 'Donut Connection' for coffee and donuts except Annika who is still sleeping. They have a maple donut topped with bacon. Took pictures of all the state's welcome signs except Virginia because it was dark.
