Washington DC - Terra Cotta Warriors- National Geographic Society
Today we got up and left for Washington just after 6 this morning because we had tickets for the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit at the National Geographic museum at 17th and M Street. We drove around Baltimore on the Key bridge (Oh, say can you see) and parked across the street from the museum before 9:30. We were scheduled for a 12:30 tour so we walked down by the White House to see if the president needed some help with tonight's speech but he didn't want to be bothered so we walked to the Smithsonian National Art Museum for a quick walk through. We also stopped at the Natural History Museum for a picture and then visited Julia Child's kitchen (Alesa's hero) at the Museum of American History. The WWII Memorial has been built since we were last in DC so we had to visit. On the way back we had lunch at 'The Potbelly" at 17th and Pennsylvania Avenue. We enjoyed the "Warriors" but were tired enough from the walking that we decided to drive around town and head home. We did drive around and were going to park by a museum for a visit but the spots were all marked " No Parking - Emergency - Special Event". We figured it was for the State of the Union. On the way home we stopped off at Jeff's since we were going right by and we had to cancel our weekly Mario Kart races for tonight.
