Winding Down

September 3, 2011

We head home on Tuesday and we are ready. It has been another great summer but getting a little redundant. Last Saturday we biked around the peninsula and Sunday Lynn & Tony spent the night. It was hectic because they were flying home on Monday and their flight was cancelled due to Irene. They where lucky enough to book another flight but had to leave the trailer at 3 AM to catch a early flight out of Buffalo to Orlando rather than Tampa where their car was. Monday we went to the Tom Ridge center for a senior fair because we were getting short on pens in the trailer. Tuesday I metal detected at beach 6 while Alesa walked around the peninsula which was on her must-do list for the summer. It wasn't on mine. Actually I don't have a list. That evening we met Ava, Bill, Phil, Bernice, Marilyn, Bob and Cathy at Barbato's for dinner. Oops, I guess I did have a list. We enjoy having the Niagara back in port and watching her sail in and out of the channel. We had a few very rough and wavy days early this week. One day the Niagara sailed into the lake and turned right around and returned to the calmer bay. The Coast Guard was even out on the lake cruising back and forth, probably practicing rough sea rescue. Wednesday I went fishing with my cousin Frank off beach 2. 3 walleye and a catfish kept, a large smallmouth and a number of striped bass released. Thursday was too hot and humid for anything but we did golf 18 at Gospel Hill on Friday even though it was still h&h. Penn State bought Gospel Hill last year so no one knows how long it will be a public golf course or a course at all.
