Charleston
Headed into Charleston this morning and visited the Ft. Sumter museum but the ferry wasn't leaving for two hours so we drove downtown and walked around the riverfront. We drove over to Patriots Point to see the aircraft carrier and destroyer but opted out of the Ft. Sumter ferry because the kids decided they wanted to see Myrtle Beach so we headed out. We toured Myrtle Beach but it was rainy so they decided to forgo the swimming and headed to the South-of-the-Border motel, you know, Pedro! After we registered, Bailey and I headed to the fireworks store while Bridget and Alesa did some other kind of shopping. My favorite fireworks are regular firecrackers, Cherry Bombs, M80s and small bottle rockets. We were greeted at the door with a sign which said that 3 of those items are now illegal in the state of SC. So we bought some regular firecrackers and some medium size bottle rockets and called it a day. Our room is very nice, a little dated and worn but clean. It is two bedrooms with a connecting kitchenette. Our room has a king bed and the kids have two double beds. Very roomy with 2 separate baths. Tomorrow we are heading out to the Outer Banks and Kitty Hawk. We offered to take the ferry over but the kids are in too much of a hurry to get to the 'oceanfront' motel in Kitty Hawk. And are not interested in adding one more mile to the trip
