Free Pencil Day

November 6, 2016

Had to take a new prescription to the VA clinic on Wednesday so we continued on to Ocala to buy same 'water' clothes. I wanted a racing suit for swimming laps, Alesa wanted a new suit and we both wanted water shirts since it is getting cooler and we want to keep swimming. Had the 10th therapy session for my back on Friday morning and they decided that since it really wasn't doing me any good they would cancel the remaining 2 sessions. I was really impressed by the fact they were more interested in progress than just taking my money, kudos to them. Craig and Janet came up later for pickleball as well as Parcheesi and Chinese Checkers on boards Craig has built and continues to upgrade. Craig and Janet passed on the evening's festivities so after they left Alesa and I headed to down Brownwood for a 'Back to the Future' celebration. Johnny Dee and the Starlighters were back and recreated the 'Enchantment under the sea' dance from the movie. You could even get your picture taken in the Delorean time machine and sample a drink they were calling the Flux Capacitor. We passed on the drink and picture but did dance to 'Earth Angel' and fell in love all over again. Saturday we headed to the Eisenhower Rec center for 'Government Day' where all of the various county offices and law enforcement groups as well as 'The Villages' government agencies set up booths to advertise their services. All three counties of The Villages were represented; Lake, Marion and Sumter (ours). They all have handouts and many of them hand out advertising pencils. Therefore we call it 'Free Pencil Day'. So our pencil needs are fully met for another year and beyond. Us retired folks can't be too thrifty. Last night after sorting through our 'booty' we watched Penn State win and set the clocks back. This morning we golfed and watched the Eagles lose. Alesa has already cooked two turkeys for Thanksgiving. We will be so relieved when this 'disgusting' election is over.
