A New Year

January 3, 2017

Craig and Janet went to the neighborhood New Years eve celebration with me. A neighbor built a ball and lights climb the pole to the ball which lights at midnight. We went down a little before and visited with some neighbors before the show began which went off without a hitch. We played some more pickleball on New Year's day and invited Paul and Carol over and Alesa prepared a nice pork and sauerkraut dinner for the six of us for good luck in 2017. Monday was a shopping and football day and we did play some platform tennis. Alesa had a doctor's appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for her knee today and was very happy with the doctor. New doctors are always somewhat of a crapshoot. Nothing seriously wrong with her knee, especially with no real athletic activity over the past 2 weeks plus. She just has a few ragged edges and he told her how to minimize any pain, swelling and further damage. He also tried to explain the term 'in-moderation' to her and told her to come back if it gets much worse. She was a good girl at the doctors so we stopped at the Dip-A-Dee donut shop on the way home so she could get a treat of what she calls 'the best apple fritter ever'. She signed up for Netflix so she spent much of the rest of the day binge watching 'House of Cards'. She also spit into a test tube and sent her DNA sample into Ancestry.com to discover her ethnic mix.
