To Berlin
Another hearty breakfast, a check of our train and a short walk around this part of Hamburg. We boarded our train but didn't see any car numbers on the outside. We boarded car 2 and our seats were in car 7. Since Hamburg was only a stop we didn't get off for fear the train would leave, and it did. We had to walk through very crowded cars to get to 7. Not fun! When we got to our compartment it was full. Alesa sat in the restaurant car (next to 7) while I got some help. She showed me back to our compartment and asked some people to leave. We had a great trip with friendly people and arrived in Berlin just after 1. We stopped at the visitors center, got directions, bought the 'Berlin Welcome Card' and caught the M41 bus to our hotel where they let us check in early. After stowing our packs, eating the sandwiches made at breakfast and a little rest we headed out for sightseeing. We took the city railways and undergrounds to various locations before returning to our hotel just as it was getting dark. Today we saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building and Checkpoint Charlie to include Berlin Wall stops.
