Leaving Erie
Left the hotel this morning and stopped at Sam's for gas and a little shopping. We drove by Whippy Dip and Alesa's grandmother's apartment where she lived when we met and were dating. We then went to visit my aunt Bernice. She had pictures of her and her brothers (my dad) as well as a quilt her grandmother had sewn for her as a child. Bob and Cathy took us out to dinner at Calao's for our anniversary along with Jim and Mary Claire Brown. Back at Bob's we had desert and Jim Brown had made copies of documents from my uncle Eddie's file at the Erie Museum. He is working on a project to organize records at the museum where they had kept a file of WWII servicemen from Erie. My uncle (Eddie Bauer) was MIA on a destroyer (USS Cushing) sunk in Iron Bottom Sound during the third battle of Savo Island in the South Pacific in 1942. We are spending the night with Bob and Cathy and heading home early in the morning.
