Flatwoods Bike Ride

August 16, 2021

Today we took the bikes down to Craig and Janet's to ride with them at Flatwoods Park. They ride there on a regular basis and it is a very nice park and it is FLAT. It was a great day even though I fell toward the end but finished the 13 mile ride. I'm fine except for a cut on my elbow, a sore side and a bruised ego. I was avoiding some overtaking bikers and basically caught my front wheel on the edge of the path. It was a good ride and we even saw a 'live' armadillo. Alesa printed out her boarding pass today for her weeklong trip to Maine to visit Laura. She is a little nervous but I will take her to the Sanford airport in the morning for a direct flight and Laura will pick her up at the Bangor airport. I would enjoy going but think Alesa should have some dedicated time with Laura. Their friendship can file for social security and medicare as it is nearly 68 years old. I finally shipped my Harley out to Arizona on Friday. I hardly ever ride it and then not far. Not worth the cost of registration, insurance and maintenance; as well as the room it was taking up in the garage. Alesa's new bike now has center stage. I am sure I will ride it more out there than I did here. Not an emotional big deal because I always planned to pass it on to Jeff anyways. We are trying to figure out a way to visit Mike and family in the next month or so but are very concerned of covid exposure since we will be tested before our cruise in France in October and would hate to miss it, if it, in fact, actually occurs. Still having some sciatica due to my hip/back. Went to the VA last week to go to the next step and they retook a number of x-rays and will let me know. Alesa is initiating the process for cataract surgery. Still playing with Alexa and bought a few plugs and switches so now we can turn on/off lights and fans as well the TV. Fred gave us nothing but a little rain and now we wait for Grace. Too far south yet to affect Alesa's flight tomorrow. The friend who caused us a covid scare a few weeks ago with a positive test has been in the hospital for the last week. Even with the vaccine he had serious symptoms and now has pneumonia but never was in the ICU. Who knows, may have been fatal without the vaccine. Be safe out there, we are now back in masks.
