Back in the USA
Wished Steve and Laura a happy fiftieth, packed the car, said our goodbyes and headed back to Canada on Friday morning. Arrived at the Auberge Lakeview Inn just after 3. We went to Lake Brome (Knowlton) because it is the hometown of Louise Penny who is the author of some of Alesa’s favorite novels which take place in Three Pines. We walked downtown and had a very good dinner at the Knowlton Pub. This morning we had breakfast at Tim Hortons and passed by Montreal and drove through Ottawa before heading south and crossing the border at the 1,000 Island area. We are settled for the night in Watertown, NY. Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is a large city of a million people and we wanted to see the Parliament building. The streets were all closed around the area for a festival and we did not want to park so we drove around the area hoping for a good view. Tomorrow we will be in Erie.
