And they're off ! Harrisonburg, VA

March 6, 2009

Yesterday morning we finished packing the trailer, backed it out of the driveway and left home just before 10 AM.  It wasn't long before we crossed the Mason-Dixon line into Maryland, 12 miles later crossed the Potomac River into West Virginia and 26 miles miles later crossed no particular feature and entered Virginia.  As we approached our campground in Harrisonburg my brother Bob called.  He and Cathy were on their way back home from Surf City, NC, were on I-95 and wondered if we were home so they could stop in and see us.  We obviously weren't so we invited them to spend the night with us so they took I-64 out of Richmond and were at our trailer an hour later.  It was really great to have them visit and we had a wonderful time catching up.  They left this morning to resume their trip back home to Erie.  We then left for McGaheysville to visit Alesa's Aunt Mary Hulvey, then to Cross Keys to visit her cousin Mike and then, after a gluttonous visit to 'The Golden Corral', drove through downtown Harrisonburg to see where Alesa used to work and spend time.  We also visited some cemeteries and some homestead houses.  We then took back roads back to the trailer and walked around the park, continued to fine-tune the trailer and relaxed.  Tomorrow we are off to Bristol.  Check out the 1925 Harley Davidson with sidecar Mike has in his garage.  Needs some work but how cool !!!
