The Wright Brothers, Duck and steamed shrimp

April 20, 2009

We drove back to the Outer Banks and visited the Wright Brothers National Memorial.  Being a pilot, I knew it would be interesting but actually being there and seeing all the details and preparation brings a new meaning to the accomplishment.  We then drove down to Jockey's Ridge State Park and walked on the dunes which are the tallest on the Atlantic coast.  The winds were strong and we were surprised to see them still hang-gliding.  If it was a class, I hope they are fast learners otherwise they probably won't get another chance.  Monk wanted to go to class but we only let him go on one that was chained down.  We then drove up to Duck, NC and then off the island for lunch at Mel's Diner.  On the way back we stopped at a local seafood store for a pint of fresh, steamed, seasoned shrimp.   Shrimp and beer, awesome!
