Roar weekend
It was a wild weekend; full campground, big crowd, noisy motorcycles and late parties, but, except for over-partying, everyone was well-behaved. We are now down to 9 of 42 campsites with a light rain falling, another great day for unwinding and relaxing. The Niagara will be out of port at ‘tall ships’ events around the lakes for the summer. She came back last week for a few ‘day sails’ but the whole crew had food poising so all sailing was cancelled until tonight when they sail to Duluth, returning in September for the Erie tall ships weekend. We had set up doctor appointments back home for the 25th of August but Roni & Denny and his brother will be camping here and Ann & Bob have a family reunion in Chautauqua that week so we changed the appointments to the 4th. After we did that Jeff called to say they were coming up on the 4th for that weekend. Since the 4th will be a travel or rest day for them we will keep our appointment and drive back that afternoon. Yesterday we biked around the peninsula. We stopped at the North Pier and at the Coast Guard Station to get a picture of the concrete block where my cousin Paul and I used to fish in Horseshoe Pond when we were 5 or 6 and he lived at the station. It sure looked a lot bigger then. We visited my Aunt Bernice and her new apartment last week and Ava will stopping over this afternoon.
