We woke Sunday morning to a fresh blanket of snow in the Maine woods. It stuck to the trees and on the lawns but not to the roads which was good because it snowed fairly hard all the way to Bangor. We shopped at Sam's Club and then met Steve and Laura at her daughter's where we visited with Dave, Gretchen, Ingrid and the new baby, Willa. We then went out to lunch with Steve and Laura on downtown Bangor waterfront at the Sea Dog on the Penobscot river. We made the obligatory stop at the LLBean store in Freeport. There were trick or treaters and their parents, all in costumes, and going from store to store. It was quite a sight and quite a crowd. We spent the night in Portsmouth, NH and toured the city on Monday morning. Very nice seaside town. We also went to Fort Constitution, the site of the first colonial victory during the Revolutionary war and where they guarded the submarine nets across the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor during both the world wars. We got home before 6 on Monday night. We voted today and hope that will be the end of the mud slinging political commercials which have taken over the media for the last couple of months.
