French Creek

November 13, 2010

It has been a quiet week with just medical and financial appointments and all is well on both counts.  On Friday we packed up to go shooting at the French Creek range but it was too crowded with hunters sighting their weapons so we decided to take a hike as it was such a nice day.  Since it is hunting season we went to the 'No Hunting' part of the park and hiked around Hopewell Lake.  We enjoyed the hike and were surprised by the amount of beaver activity in the area, lodges, dams and gnawed trees.  There were a large number of big trees down or partly chewed through.  They must use the tops or are just wearing their teeth down.  After the walk we stopped in St. Peters Village and had some coffee and some sweets on the porch overlooking the rock field.  We then embarked in a search for a 'hedgehog' bootscraper.  We took the back roads to Lancaster to the outlets with no luck but did buy a nice brush at Tractor Supply to mount on the deck.  Today we pick up Mike's girls for the evening and will take them downtown to watch Lisa do a run on Sunday.
