Maine - Day 3 & 4
Monday, Steve and I went out on his "Grand Laker" to Third Machias Lake and fished for white perch. We were interrupted by some bass and pickerel but still caught quite a few perch. While we were cleaning them, Mike and family arrived. Steve cooked the perch and potatoes and onions on their outside fireplace for dinner. He also blackened the togue he caught on Sunday as an appetizer. Everybody loved the meal and the girls made s'mores for desert. Mike and I stayed by the fire a little later to stargaze and watch shooting stars. The sky has so many stars and the Milky Way is clearly visible. Laura and Alesa went to ukulele lessons in Woodland. Laura received her uke today and they have been practicing. This morning, Steve took Lisa and I bass fishing in his Grand Laker on Big Lake. First we caught the bait fish, then we caught bass. We all caught and released a few. The girls went to a "bug" class in town (GLS) and learned about insects. They all found it very interesting then came home and played "Ticket to Ride". Later this afternoon we went to the beach by the dam on West Grand Lake. Then home for dinner, now out to the fire. While exploring today, the girls found a bat which has taken up residence outside the Schaefer's basement window.
