Birthday Dinners
Monday we picked up the 200 or so holiday presents the TBR shoppers bought for the students of the Lake Hills School and today we met to wrap them all. It took less than 2 hours and we now have them in the truck for a tomorrow delivery. I had contacted the local paper to see if they wanted to cover our effort but when I told him we were meeting at 7:30, he said "In the morning??!!??" But he did show up along with a photographer and a videographer. They asked a lot of questions and took a lot of pictures and even interviewed Alesa on tape and they will also come to the events at the school. It will be great to get the school some exposure as they certainly deserve the help. Paul and Alesa's birthdays are in December and Carol and mine are in June so we make a point to have birthday dinners in December and June. Tonight we went to Miz Kathi's Southern Cotillion Café and Sweetery for dinner. We all had great dinners to include excellent fried green tomatoes. Alesa decided she was going to have a BIG piece of coconut cake for dinner with a cup of coffee, so she did. She also told the waitress why she was having cake, So!, she had everyone sing happy birthday to her and the cake was free. It's the second free meal she's had in the last two days. Last night we ate at Olive Garden and they roasted chicken for Alesa's dinner but used it for a chef's salad instead so our meals took extra long to deliver so the chef bought us both dinner. We were sure to leave both waitresses great tips. Oh, yeah, and we put up a Christmas tree this year and I am now busy fixing light strings for outside.
