Steve and Laura played a round of golf with Jeff and Bailey on Saturday at our Trilogy course. They all had a great time and we appreciate Jeff and Bailey for taking them since neither of us can play due to my back and Alesa’s shoulder.
Trip Log
Today was outlet shopping at the Premium Outlets on I-10 with a stop at the Chandler Veterans park and the Chandler nature center on the way home. Stopped at Jeff's so Steve and Laura had a chance to visit with Bridget, Bailey and Bailey's girlfriend, Nicki before they leave.
Today was a day at the Phoenix Art museum in downtown Phoenix then the famous Prime Rib dinner at the Slate restaurant here in Trilogy. We also did a little (very little) pickleball with jeff and friends who play at our courts every Thursday evening.
We all went to the Hangar Café at Chandler airport for breakfast and stopped at the Queen Creek Olive Mill on the way home. Later in the day we all hiked up the Superstition trail at the Lost Dutchman state park. Then it was Mexican food for dinner at the Bario Queen restaurant.
Returned the rental car today and went to Taliesin West, a Frank Lloyd Wright home north of Scottsdale and went through the tour which we downloaded on our phones. We stopped in Old Town Scottsdale for an ice cream sundae at the Sugar Bowl.
Steve’s cousin, Sara, and her husband, Alvin Adams, live in Phoenix and they wanted to visit with them but their kitchen is being renovated so Laura hosted a dinner here for them (and us). Alvin played ball for the Suns from ’75 to ’88 and still works for the organization.
Picked up Steve and Laura at the airport Tuesday evening (the 14th) and had a great time catching up and making plans for their stay. Wednesday morning we took Steve and Laura to Enterprise where they rented a car and drove up to Flagstaff to spend a few days with Steve’s cousin.
We spent New Years's Eve at Jeffs. They were all going out to parties and we were happy to spend the night and watch the dogs. I stayed up until midnight and Alesa kind of did. She was in bed but reading.
Our 55th wedding anniversary was on the 27th and we celebrated on the 28th. We went to a local restaurant, High Tide, recommended by jeff and had excellent meals followed by a complimentary slice of key lime pie for our anniversary. We are looking forward to many more wonderful years together.
Jeff and family came over to celebrate Christmas Eve with us and we Facetimed with Mike and the girls after dinner. Mike had shipped us a package of our gifts so we opened ours and they opened theirs during the call.
