We flew home with Bridget last Wednesday with a connection in Dallas Love Field. The flights were uneventful but our shuttle was 45 minutes late due to a Florida Turnpike closure so we didn't get home until just after midnight. Thurday was a rest and food shopping day.
Busy packing today because we fly back home tomorrow. Bridget is flying back to spend a few days with us. Today is the 19th day in a row with a temperature of 110 degrees or more. Setting a record for the number of consecutives days above 110. The forecast is calling for 10 more days.
Keeping busy in spite of the heat. Saturday, we went to Old Town Scottsdale so Alesa could shop and we also stopped at The Sugar Bowl, our favorite stop for ice cream.
On Saturday morning Jeff, Danielle, Alesa and I headed to Lake Havasu City for the weekend with Bridget staying home to watch the dogs. We had rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Bullhead City for Saturday night but wanted to visit Lake Havasu City on the way.
Happy 4th of July. Plenty to eat today and lots of activity. Took a ride to the San Tan Valley area to see the homes and check out the growth and new building in that area. There were many beautiful desert and modern style homes on the side of the mountains with great views of the valley.
Hot in Arizona. They have been closing the hiking trails from 11 to 5 due to heat warnings but we continue to be active as long as we hydrate and cool off in the pool. I do a 5+ mile bike ride every day while Alesa rides farther and does her walks.
Been busy with all the normal stuff since we've been here. Have been building my legs up as they are still a little weak. Back is doing well but I have acquired a bit of stiffness and soreness on my right side lower back and hip area.
Invited to a cookout at the new neighbor's house on the 3rd. JJ and Carol Watt moved In a few months ago but we just got to know them. They live two houses down and we had a good time. Had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse with Paul and Carol on the 10th.
A late wish for a good Memorial Day. Had my follow-up appointment with the neurosurgeon's PA on Wednesday and all is well. They don't recommend flying for 6 weeks after surgery, but we are in such a hurry to get to Arizona that I made reservations for the 16th, only 4 and one-half weeks.
Had my back surgery yesterday. Luckily it was at 7:30 in the morning and we were back home around 12:30. Everything went well.
