Yesterday Jeff and Danielle signed mortgage papers and today we were waiting for the keys before they could move in. Closing in Arizona is quite different than what we are used to: everybody sitting at a table, signing papers, exchanging money and keys.
Made it at 1:30 this afternoon and are staying at the "Aloft" in Mesa. Jeff and Danielle are off signing mortgage papers then a walk-thru of the home this evening. The closing is tomorrow and the trailer should arrive that afternoon.
Got an early start since this was the longest day of the trip (540 miles). We gained an hour when we passed into New Mexico and MDT. The scenery was great in OK, Texas and New Mexico, the first real western scenery with sagebrush, mesas, buttes and mountains.
Good ride as Alesa rode with Jeff and Danielle and they laughed all the way down the road. I had both grandkids as a fathers’ day gift. And, I did enjoy it. Most of the time was spent on the telephones between the cars as we drove down the road.
Headed out early for a long day and gained an hour as we are now in the central time zone. Drove down Broadway in Nashville, parked by the river and had a snack by Ryman auditorium. Then off to Memphis with a stop at Graceland.
Bailey is having an eye problem so they had a prescription sent to a local CVS and they picked them up this morning. We then headed out to a Holiday Inn in Knoxville, TN. Arrived there before dinner and we all hung out by the pool.
Two more trips to the dump and another to Goodwill but this time the one just down the street from Jeff’s. Took more than the contracted space and luckily they will just bill you for the additional. The buyers made a final inspection of the house and returned the security deposit.
A full day of loading the trailer and a trip to “habitat” to donate some very good furniture plus miscellaneous items. Some of the items they wouldn’t take so we went to Goodwill just down the road and they took it all. Also took a trip to the dump.
Continued to get ready for the big move by staging boxes and other items and another trip to the dump. Sunday, Mike and family came over for a farewell and an early celebration of my birthday and fathers' day.
Bailey graduated from the local Technical College High School yesterday evening and he will graduate from Avon Grove High School next Tuesday. He attended the technical school as part of his academic high school and was bussed there after his regular classes.
