Alesa was invited to dinner with Tracy and Jackie at Disney and I was invited along as her chauffeur. We drove down today to Disney Springs and had dinner at Morimoto Asia.
Trip Log
Many of the snow birds are back from Erie so October was the first meeting of the season last night (Always the second Thursday of the month). This is usually the 'Ox Roast' meeting but we had a 'Poker Run' instead.
The Erie Club is starting back up with meetings in October and the board met to plan the upcoming season. October is a Poker Run with Pizza but we like to have one meeting with 'professional' entertainment.
Can always tell when September is here because the lovebugs show up. Not too bad this year but still a nuisance and will be gone in October. Golfing and water volleyball continue to take up our time but doctor appointments are running a close third. So far only great news.
It has been an interesting few days as Dorian came towards us. Everybody was busy getting ready for the worst and many things closed to include all of The Villages facilities.
Left Jeff's around 10 PM on the 27th to catch a 12:50 flight to Dallas-Fort Worth. Jeff drove us and we went a little early so he could get home and rest before he had to catch a 7:30 flight the next morning. Turns out we had TSA PrePass on our tickets so security was a breeze.
South Mountain is south of Phoenix (duh) and offers a spectacular view of the entire valley. We had a lazy early morning and then drove to South Mountain. As we drove in South Phoenix along the base it really didn't look like much but we continued on.
The Superstition Mountains are east of the Phoenix (Salt River) Valley and the north end of them, just out of Apache Junction, is very imposing and a place we want to explore. But first we went to Home Depot to buy, as it turns out, a Queen Palm for the north end of the pool.
Got up early this morning and dropped 'stuff' off for Bailey at ASU. We took him with us to hike the Echo Canyon trail at Camelback. It was a tough but good climb and we turned back, as promised, when it got iffy for some of the group.
Some net-less water volleyball this morning. We were headed to Apache Lake before learning that a road closure turned a 35 mile trip into a 112 mile one. So it was off to Scottsdale. It was a great outing in a old town Scottsdale. We walked the shops and I bought a hat.
