Headed north out of Flagstaff this morning. We crossed the Colorado River on the norther edge of the Navajo Reservation and stopped at the visitors center for the Navajo Bridge.
Trip Log
After a long day we drove out to Meteor Crater. We had passed it years ago but didn't stop and I regretted it.
While at the Sunset Crater visitors center someone told us about Walnut Canyon so we stopped on the way to Meteor Crater. It was another impressive sight with a very deep and steep canyon where there are cliff dwellings from over 800 years ago.
Headed to Meteor Crater later today but thought we would check out Sunset Crater where the astronauts trained for their trip to the moon. It was very impressive with the dormant volcano and the many old lava flows.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel we visited the Flagstaff visitors center and then toured the "Old Town" as well as other parts of the city. We found ourselves in the northwest corner of the city so we headed out to the Arizona Snow Bowl ski resort (Elevation 9,200 ft.).
Enterprise picked me up this morning and I rented an Elantra for two weeks. Went back to Jeff's to pick up Alesa and load the car. We headed to Flagstaff and stopped just north of Phoenix at the Pioneer RV park where we stayed a few years back.
Walked the dogs and packed for our trip north. Jeff left around noon to catch a flight to Seattle returning Thursday.
Jeff wants to install a pool heater and we have been investigating options: electric, natural gas, propane or heat pump. Pretty much settled on natural gas except for the cost of installing a gas line.
Today was a busy day. This morning we all went to LA Fitness for racquetball, basketball and the exercise machines then back home for lunch. Jeff rented a car for his trip to the airport on Tuesday but also to relieve the stress of a single car.
This morning Jeff, Bridget, Alesa & I walked to 'The Nook' a breakfast spot about a mile north of here. Danielle joined us after a dentist appointment and we had a very nice breakfast.
