Yesterday was Alesa's birthday and Craig and Janet came up today to celebrate and play pickleball. Alesa prepared a 'Christmas' dinner for us and we invited our neighbor Mike as well. We sang to her and she blew out the candle on her Key Lime pie birthday cake.
Trip Log
Shopped at the Lancaster Outlets while still up north and drove back on the 27th and 28th. Left my vest at the hotel in Lumberton and will pick it up on our way back for the holidays. Been busy playing water volleyball and golf since we got back.
Today, after a couple of hours to decide what to do, we went Christmas tree shopping with Jeff and family. We went to a local Christmas tree farm and after a long search, cut it down, had it wrapped, loaded it on top of the explorer and drove it home.
On Tuesday we headed to Mike's to get ready for Thanksgiving and stopped to see Goodmans on the way. While the ladies cooked the dinner, Elyse, Mike and I headed to the auto repair shop to tow home Elyse's car which died on the road this summer due to a broken timing chain.
Left for Pa last Friday and arrived at Jeff's on Saturday afternoon after our usual stay in Lumberton. We had a good trip except for the not unexpected heavy traffic below DC. After a day of rest and football we did some shopping this morning.
We are mostly recovered. Grocery shopping done. Golf reservations made . Alesa played water volleyball with her ladies group yesterday while I caught up with finances, prescriptions and the blog. We are both headed out shortly for some volleyball before the Erie Club meeting this evening.
Spent a comfortable night at the Ibis hotel near the airport. Had some coffee, checked our packing and caught the very, very, very crowded airport shuttle for a 15 minute ride to the airport. After one short and one very, very long flight we arrived in Orlando on time.
Great night's rest and good coffee in the morning. Tets drove us and the dogs out to Bergen by the sea (North Sea) for a walk on the beach. There were a lot of people and dogs on a very wide and beautiful beach. There was a group of guys playing soccer and even a group swimming.
Woke at six, packed, had breakfast and headed to the S station and then to the central station. No hiccups this time because we are 'seasoned' travelers and know the ropes (?). A nice comfortable ride to Amsterdam with lots of stops and nice views of the countryside and the cities.
After breakfast we took the S-bahn to central station and checked on tomorrow's train to Amsterdam. We bought tickets for the hop-on/hop off bus and went on a 2 hour tour of the major and not so major sights. We were on the top of an open bus and it was comfortable, the weather has been great.
