Today, my cousin Larry, a friend Jack and I rode our bikes to Daytona for Bike week. The weather was cool in the morning and warmed up during the day. We dressed in layers and al in all a perfect day for the ride through central Florida.
Trip Log
Ken and Jan Felix headed back north yesterday morning so Saturday night we all went out to dinner for a final get together with the Felixes, Maloneys and Carullos at the Evans Prairie Country Club (except Diane is grandbaby sitting in San Diego).
Last night was the March Erie Club meeting and we played Jukebox bingo. They had made up different bingo games with song names rather than numbers and played the songs instead of drawing numbers. You didn't have to guess the song name because it was on the screen together with the lyrics.
In the 1960s the Corps of Engineers started to build the Cross Florida Barge Canal across the Florida peninsula from the St. John River to the Gulf using the Ocklawaha River.
This weekend was the Villages annual Outdoor Expo where the clubs and some outside vendors set up booths and explain what they have to offer. Alesa, being vice-president of the Platform Tennis Club, manned the booth today and was demonstrating on the courts yesterday.
Last night was the Erie Club's annual Smith's hot dog night. We order hot dogs and have them shipped here to be grilled and served to the Erie Club member and guests for out February meeting. We order extra packages to keep frozen and sell at the end of the meeting.
Still sky high from the Eagles win. Yesterday we went to the Putt N'Play in the village of Fenney. It's an 18 hole putting course on real grass with par 2, 3 and 4s (I think). Most holes are very long with serious dog-legs and plenty of elevation changes.
Sorry that Phil saw his shadow this morning but, take heart, he is usually wrong. Had an eye appointment at the VA this morning. It's been about 8 years since my last appointment and nothing has changed.
Got up this morning to see this special moon, first time in 150 years. Super because it is closer to the earth than usual so it is brighter and larger. Full because it was a full moon. Snow because that was what the Indians called the second full moon of the year.
