Trip Log

Wade Collier was a member of our local veterans breakfast group and lived directly behind our house and across the street. He was a P38 pilot in the South Pacific during WWII and had plenty of interesting stories. I was helping him get his house ready to sell and we became friends.

They have begun inside work, yahoo! Yesterday we had the U&O (use and occupancy) inspection on 607 and had no big problems. Have to add two smoke detectors in the basement and a fire retardant cover (sheet metal) on the pull down stairs in the garage and we will be up to code.

Yesterday we breakfasted with friends then went to the Colorado School of Mines Geological museum, better known as the gem museum with Steve and Laura.

This is not a commercial but not very often does a car rental experience become a high point of a trip. A few weeks ago I began looking on the internet to reserve a car and everyone wanted at least $170 for a 3 day rental.

We spent Saturday visiting, getting the flowers to Fossil Trace and waiting for it to rain. And it did rain, a good old fashioned gully washer which did not subside until after the scheduled 6PM start time. It was delayed in the hopes of it drying out but it was not to be.

The roof is on, tarpaper anyway. Just in time because there was a big rainstorm after they finished.

July 12, 2013

Steve and Laura's youngest daughter Kate, is marrying Brian DeBever on Saturday so we flew out to Golden to attend the wedding. I traveled a lot during my career but this is the first time we have flown since I retired in '06.

We have pictures of the roof going up. Today they started and finished the trusses.

July 10, 2013

Our Fl realtor is having a photographer take pictures of the building of our home and we received those of the finished pad a few days ago. Paul and Carol continue to take excellent pictures of progress on a daily basis.

Last night they put down the visqueen (plastic moisture barrier) and this morning they poured concrete. Paul and Carols sent numerous photos.
