Today Alesa went dragon boating with Carol and I went to happy hour with Paul at one of the many country clubs. I also went exploring on the motorcycle and the golf car then off to the pool to cool down and meet neighbors.
Trip Log
We have officially become villagers because today we bought a golf car. We have been truly busy for the last few days, unpacking, meeting neighbors, doing a little exploring, preparing our 'punch list' for the house and waiting for appointments as the 'fixers' come.
The house is beginning to look a little more lived-in as we are making great progress. After a long day of unpacking yesterday we were going to go for a nice walk but by the time we cleaned up it was pouring so we sat on the lanai and enjoyed the rain.
Today was a very busy day but everything went according to plan. At 7:30 this morning the refrigerator, washer and dryer showed up and were installed. At 9:30 Direct TV showed up and installed our new dish and hooked up the TVs. At 11;00 the trailer showed up and was backed into our driveway.
Today we have a home and are residents of Florida. We drove the trailer to the new house this morning for the walk-thru with the builder and left it there as we went to closing. We then came back and unloaded the trailer and I took it over to storage.
We drove up to the VA clinic then stopped at Lake Sumter Landing Town Center for lunch and, since it was raining, walked through the welcome center on the way to Panera's. We saw that our name was posted on the board even though we aren't closing until tomorrow.
Two days before we close on our house. Yesterday I attended the World of Beer pre-grand-opening with the Home Brew club. It was a great time and the beer was good too. Alesa played Bunco and had a good time as well.
After a short hiatus our blog is back. Don't know the problem but our administrator (Mike) was out of the country (Montreal) so we didn't bother him but he got back last night and it's up. We have been busy shopping for couches, deciding and changing.
Today we went to Ocala to shop for furniture and found a couch, loveseat and chair we liked at Rooms to Go (but in red). Also shopped at Sam's Club and Famous Footwear. Also looked at an number of Golf Car dealers on the way back to the villages.
We spent two nights at 3 flags and moved today to Red Oaks in Bushnell, the locals put the accent on the second syllable. We have stayed here every year we have camped in Florida, it's not fancy but it is one of our favorite places. When we pulled in today, Alesa said, "Now we are in Florida".
