Trip Log
We got an email this morning from Jeff & Danielle that a house was burning on the 600 block of Brecknock Drive but it was a flat driveway so it wasn't ours. Got online to channel 6 but the picture looked like no house on Brecknock drive.
We rented a golf car and drove around to get the true 'Village' experience. It went down to 36 last night and to 66 during the day so we dressed warmly. We visited open houses for our two favorite models, the Elm and the Iris.
We went up to a few more open houses this morning then back to camp for one more bike ride before I rigged the bikes for travel and packed the lawn chairs. We will be leaving here on Thursday morning and heading north.
We have decided to buy a home in The Villages. Today we paid a deposit to hold our homesite for three months. We are not exactly sure of what we will be doing but are planning to come back toward the end of June to make all of the design decisions for building a home.
We watched basketball and golf and went to some more open houses today. Strong storms went throught the area so we got to experience some not so nice weather, the same storm that postoned the golf tournament until Monday.
Gene and Lynn Kutina visited today from Citrus Hills, about 40 miles west of here. They are friends from Exton who have been in Florida for the last two years. We gave them a short tour of The Villages and attended a few open houses and then visited with Paul and Carol.
Today we drove over to Claremont to visit with Fred and Cathy Dudenhofer who are renting a house for a couple of months. On the way we took a small detour towards Leesburg to stop at the Yahala German bakery.
Today we met again with our realtor and visited a model of each of the 3 home styles we are still considering and then went to the home sites we liked. We believe we have made a decision and we put a hold on a lot.
Today we went to a number of potential home sites then we visited with Ron & Dot Kempf, friends from Erie who have done what we are planning to do. They had bought a house and rented it for a few years, using it occasionaly until they recently moved down permanently.
