We decided on a leisurely trip home so we spent Monday night at the Days Inn in Selma, NC (I-95 exit 97). We arrived home before 3PM on Tuesday. We started to see snow on the ground about 10 miles from home and were surprised to see a good covering at home.
Trip Log
We left Paul and Carol's at about 7 this morning and drove back roads to I-95 at about the Georgia border and have just crossed into South Carolina. We had the usual excellent visit with the Stones and look forward to camping near them for a while this winter.
We have been busy visiting, touring and walking. Today we walked around the new building going on inthe northern part of Paul and Carol's neighborhood. While they weren't working today it was interesting to see the quantity of new homes and the homes in various stages of construction.
We arrived at Paul and Carol's new house at The Villages yesterday afternoon after a short ride from Tampa. It is the first time we have seen the house finished and we are very impressed. We even have our own visitor's wing.
We left Craig and Janet's this morning and headed off to Zach and Cathy's with 4 cooked turkeys and a ton of stuffing for a family Thanksgiving celebration. There were 22 people there to include Cathy's family, Tracy's family and Mike's family.
We left home Thursday morning just after 3AM to beat the I-95 traffic around DC and arrived in Brunswick, Ga before 4PM. It was a great trip and the new car was very comfortable.
Yesterday we had the new neighbors over for coffee. They are Riyadh and Shatha Ali from Baghdad. They left there in '05 for the safety of their 2 adult sons who live with them. They lived in Jordan at first then here for the last 3 years.
We had Bailey and Bridget Monday night and Tuesday since they didn't have school because of election day but their parents had to work. We had the realtor back to check the progress on the house, she was impressed with what we have done so far and said we could put the house up anytime.
Friday we had Empire install new carpet in 2 upstairs bedrooms, the upstairs hall and the stairs and it looks very nice.
It's November, don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend. We only had about 15 TorTers last night. Don't know if it was due to Sandy or just that the neighborhood is getting older.
