On Saturday my youngest sister's youngest daughter was married in Meadville with a reception in Guys Mills. All of my siblings were there so it was a reunion of sorts and it was great to get caught up with relatives you don't see as much as you would like.
Trip Log
Today we drove to Erie for a wedding by way of the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, PA. It was a severe and serene memorial for all of the victims of 911 and especially the 40 heroes who died on flight 93 and saved the Capitol building.
Today was our annual apple picking day. Mike and Jeff and families came over and we all went out to Highland Orchards and picked a peck of apples. Then back home for a great meal to include a fresh apple crisp. The kids played and we visited and watched Penn State beat Temple.
Yesterday we went downtown to volunteer for the annual GIVE program. (Gannon's Invitation to Volunteer Everywhere) We usually clean up the Schuylkill River Park but due to rebuilding it was pretty clean so we painted the gate and fence at the entrance to their pool.
The floors have been ready to finish but it has been rainy and humid. Thursday it dried up enough so we spent the day puting four coats of poly on the game room and foyer and they look very nice. Have put the trim and heaters back on and we are good to go.
Wow, September already. Bailey and Bridget are back to school and Elyse and Annika start on Wednesday. We had Bailey and Bridget a few more days after the last post and they kept busy with projects, making whistles, go carts, ant farms, etc.
We haven't posted in a while but we have been busy. We moved all the furniture out of our game room and tore down the suspended ceiling. I took out all the panels from the hanging ceiing in the basement and replaced them with the panels from the game room.
It was a rainy morning and we headed to the Exton Diner (now Bistro 24) for breakfast and on the way in we (Bridget) found $65 in the parking lot. No one was around to claim it so we split it among the campers.
Another busy day at Camp NanaPapa. We made some root beer by using dry ice and conducted a few experiments beforehand since we had the dry ice.
Today was tubing day with a 2 hour float down the Brandywine. The kids really enjoyed themselves once they got past the fact they could do more in the creek than just float.
