We took a walk around town yesterday and wore orange since it was the first day of deer season. Later in the day a seaplane landed on the lake and tied up at the docks so we went down. It was a dentist from Machias that I had graduated from high school with in Erie, Jim Sparaga.
Trip Log
I had a blood test yesterday morning and then we left for Maine around noon and arrived at the Hampshire Inn in Seabrook at about 6 PM. We drove through a lot of rush hours and a lot of rain and were greated by snow in New Hampshire.
We spent most of the weekend working around the house. Danielle's mother had stayed the night at their house to watch the kids so Jeff and Danielle could go the a costume party. Sunday she came back home and brought Bailey and Bridget over to our house as she lives close.
Last week we had an appointment to discuss Medicare and the VA at the Downingtown Senior Center. I'll be 65 in June and we would also like to get Alesa better medical coverage when I qualify for Medicare.
Saturday was Mike's 41st birthday (yikes) and Sunday they had their annual tailgate party at their house. It was a good time, as always, with good food and friends, some of whom we only see once a year. The weather was perfect and the Eagles even beat the Redskins.
Since it has not been a good week for Philadelphia fans we decided to put the backsplash on the new counters and finish painting the window shelf. The glass tile backsplash needs to set overnight, be grouted and caulked but the hard part is over and the shelf needs one last coat of paint.
We have given Jeff and family our piano so today Jeff brought his family and Daniell's brother Lou up to visit and load the piano on his pickup. Things went well and Lou will help unload on the other end. After we signed Bridget's cast, she and Bailey decorated their new aprons.
We continue to work on the counter trim but still have to make a final decision on the backsplash. Alesa wanted to not have a backsplash but now thinks it might look too bare.
And the weather has cooled down considerably, not bad for the Fall. Saturday was a catch up day with a lot of little projects.
The installers showed up at 8:30 on Thursday morning and were done and on their way by 9:15 and they even took the old countertops away. They were able to do the "L" shaped counter out of a single piece of Zodiaq, no seams!
