On the Monday after Veterans' Day Annika's 4th grade class had an assembly where the students invited relatives who had or who are still serving in the military. Annika introduced me and did a very nice job. Mike posted the pictures on Fickr and I have included a couple here.
Trip Log
We had a totally relaxing Thanksgiving day and the day after. Saturday we had a few friends over for soup and some visiting. Mike and the girls joined us and and when Mike went to a friends to watch the Penn State game he left the girls for us.
Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with the family. We usually host the holiday eves which lets the kids spread out their celebrations and meals. It also gives us their undivided attention and makes the logistics a whole lot easier.
On Tuesday we went over to Annika's school because the fourth grade class at Overlook had an assembly where they honored the Veterans. Each student who 'brought' a veteran gave a little presentation regarding their service and Annika did a very nice job.
Today is Veterans' Day and on Tuesday we will be going over to Annika's school for an assembly where I and a few other veterans will be speaking about our experiences in the service.
We left Maine on Wednesday morning and arrived home about 7:15 that night. It was a good trip through a lot of storm damage. There were trees and branches down everywhere from Bangor to home. We didn't have much snow in Grand Lake Stream but did have a good frost on the morning we left.
We took a walk around town yesterday and wore orange since it was the first day of deer season. Later in the day a seaplane landed on the lake and tied up at the docks so we went down. It was a dentist from Machias that I had graduated from high school with in Erie, Jim Sparaga.
I had a blood test yesterday morning and then we left for Maine around noon and arrived at the Hampshire Inn in Seabrook at about 6 PM. We drove through a lot of rush hours and a lot of rain and were greated by snow in New Hampshire.
We spent most of the weekend working around the house. Danielle's mother had stayed the night at their house to watch the kids so Jeff and Danielle could go the a costume party. Sunday she came back home and brought Bailey and Bridget over to our house as she lives close.
Last week we had an appointment to discuss Medicare and the VA at the Downingtown Senior Center. I'll be 65 in June and we would also like to get Alesa better medical coverage when I qualify for Medicare.
