In addition to normal activities, most of this week was busy preparing for our trip to the mountains of North Carolina for Thanksgiving week. We rented a house about 40 miles SW of Ashville with Mike and his family and the Abbates.

Monday we had dinner at the Maloney's. They have been in Erie since May and just returned. They bought a condo just off the Peninsula and spent a lot of the summer fixing it up. Election day was interesting but we had voted last month by mail so we did our normal activities.

Had to take a new prescription to the VA clinic on Wednesday so we continued on to Ocala to buy same 'water' clothes. I wanted a racing suit for swimming laps, Alesa wanted a new suit and we both wanted water shirts since it is getting cooler and we want to keep swimming.

Some new additions to the 'food' plants we are growing are celery, lemongrass and spaghetti squash. You can see a new stalk growing in the middle of the base cut from store-bought celery and placed in water.

Yesterday morning I took a motorcycle ride around the area while Alesa subbed in her platform tennis league. The weather is turning cooler and it is comfortable to ride. Last night we went to Brownwood to see Johnny Dee and the Starlighters.

It is not Halloween yet but it was celebrated at Brownwood today. Craig and Janet were up for pickleball and after the games and lunch we headed to the Brownwood town center. We also wanted to buy tickets for an upcoming show at the box office but they closed 15 minutes before we got there.

Today was a day of rest so Alesa put pine straw around the plants.while I waxed the car. Probably the first time I've waxed a car in over 20 years. It was a day of rest because Alesa is nursing a sore knee and I won't let her on the platform tennis court until tomorrow.

It's been quite a sports weekend. Penn State beat Ohio State, the Indians and the Cubs are in the world series and the Eagles beat the Vikings. We golfed this morning and Alesa subbed in a platform tennis league on Saturday.

The Mainely Country Band was playing at Brownwood this evening so we borrowed the neighbor's 4 person cart and headed down with Craig and Janet who came up today for a few games of Pickleball and Chinese checkers.

You know it's October in Florida when the top of the Muhly Gras turns pink (actually a red/purple). It's all over the place and very pretty when the sun shines on/through it. Alesa got a clean bill of health on her follow up visit with the doctor.
