Left the house just after 8 this morning and headed north. We arrived in Savannah around noon and headed to the visitors’ center and visited the curb where I fell and broke my hip a few years back.
Trip Log
Hard to believe the kids have been here a week and now we are headed north in the morning. We were going to leave later but we want to take a few days and don't want to be driving over the July 4th weekend.
Today we drove up to St. Augustine, one of our favorite places, to show the kids some history and to test the idea of the four of us being in one car for an extended period.
After pickleball this morning we all headed out to Eaton's Beach a very nice lakeside restaurant for lunch. Mainly because Bridget wanted to lay on the beach and we aren't headed to the shore until tomorrow. We strolled the beach and the water and they were both very hot so we just ate lunch.
Alesa took the kids out for pickleball and to use the exercise machines on the hiking trail while I stayed home for a finance call. And Bailey drove the golf car everywhere we went, he's getting a lot of miles in. The kids got to watch the Atlas 5 launch from our Lanai.
The kids participated in the 'Camp Villages' Dragon boating session. There were 3 boats manned by seasoned paddlers and village grandkids. They had a class and safety briefing, a practice session and then ran 3 races.
Had trouble getting the kids started early in the morning but they rallied. We went to the air gun range where the shooting club provides guns, ammunition, targets and instruction. Bailey and Bridget both had fun and did very well.
Bailey and Bridget flew into Orlando last night and we picked them up around 7. After breakfast today, we played tennis then platform tennis before coming home to het cleaned up for archery. We hiked around a lake by the range while waiting for class to begin.
It is corn season and I have been microwaving and eating a couple of ears most nights. The buttering process can be pretty messy so we bought a 'Butter Boy' for one of my birthday presents and it works very well.
