Today was a great birthday. Last night the next door neighbor invited us and our cross street neighbors over for a small get together where we visited and had cake. Today we took it easy but did play platform tennis, pickleball and went to the pool.
Trip Log
Yesterday we spent much of the day painting an 'accent wall' on one side of the entryway and under the counter. When the wall under the counter gets kicked it can't be cleaned because the flat paint would just wash off.
Friday was National Donut Day but the Bradenton Rec Center was giving away donuts on Thursday so we didn't have to fight the crowds on Friday for a free donut. Today were the Dragon Boat races in Mt. Dora so I rode over with Alesa so I could visit the Abbates while Alesa was racing.
It has been hot and dry for about three weeks now. Everyday looks like rain in the afternoon but it has not rained here and the lawns are drying up and the ponds are shrinking. Today it finally rained and here's the view from our lanai. (That's Florida talk for back porch.)
Took the golf car to the shop on Thursday and got a loaner so we could still golf. The governor had stopped working so they rebuild part of the transmission under warranty and we picked it up the next day. We had Paul and Carol over for BBQ'ed chicken on Friday.
Since Alesa is no longer in the TBR dragon boat club, we passed chairmanship of the Lake Hills School committee to a new person but I will probably remained involved. Alesa is on two other teams so she keeps dragon boating. Tonight we went to the Chester County (Pa) club meeting.
I ran the weekly Gilly games, Alesa paddled and after lunch we drove to Lakeland to celebrate Memorial Day with Lynn & Tony. In addition to the Garifi family and friends, Mary Sue & Jim and Pat & Tracy were there. We had a good time and it was great to catch up.
We were on standby all weekend because Craig and Janet were renting a truck yesterday and moving their 'stuff' to the Tampa house (Lutz, actually). They were picking the truck up early, having Zach help them load, driving to Lutz and having us join them to help unload.
When Ann & Ed Dawson came down for the winter they brought a lot of frozen fish which Ed had caught over the summer in Lake Erie. When they and Ed's sister, Bunni, headed back north they left us the remaining fish.
While we were riding around in the golf car yesterday to cool off after playing platform tennis, we ran across an interesting vehicle in the parking lot at Brownwood. According to the internet it is a Polaris Slingshot 3-wheeled roadster.
