Yesterday we played ping-pong at Eisenhower then golfed at Palmetto before having dinner at the Evans Prairie Country Club. We had a great visit with Steve and Laura and they left at 4 this morning to head back to Maine. Today we pretty much took it easy which is a rare occurrence for us.
Trip Log
Steve arrived yesterday but we took it easy on him but we all did go to see DJ Scooter at the landing. Today we all played platform tennis, pickleball, swam and golfed. Today, our flag is at half mast for National Peace Officers' Memorial Day.
Monday we drove down to the intersection of I-4 and Rt-27 to meet Steve and Laura who had just flown in from Austin. Steve was on his way to Naples for a fishing trip so we brought Laura home with us and Steve will be coming back on Thursday.
Saturday we went down to the Tampa area, Lutz to be exact, to see Craig and Janet's new home They closed a month ago but rented it back to the sellers until last week. They had tile installed in all the public areas and rented a trailer to bring up some belongings.
Alesa has been drumming for the Silver Dragon race team and has been 'paddling' six days a week. She just quit the TBR team so is down to 3 days plus races. Now she is looking for new activities, that girl just won't quit. Sunday there was a race in Clermont.
Tonight, the "Help Hospitalized Veterans" organization sponsored a concert by the Jefferson Starship which was free to all veterans and their guests. The group provides free hobby kits to veterans with medical conditions and handed out many tonight.
Went to a local bar in Wildwood called "O'Shucks" and, yes, they specialize in oysters and there is an "R" in April but we passed. It looks like a real dive but we heard good reports so we went with the Maloneys and were pleased with our meals, the crowd and the $1 drafts.
Saturday we went to Port Richey where Alesa drummed for the Silver Dragons and they won the event and brought home gold. Yesterday, Alesa and I drove to Disney to have lunch with some friends from Pep Boys who were down for a catalog conference. We had a great time visiting and catching up.
Went golfing with Ed Dawson, his neighbor and a friend at the Harbor Hills country club on Lake Griffin on Wednesday morning. A very nice course and we had a great time.
We have been busy golfing nearly every day and Alesa continues to dragon boat 3 times a week. On Thursday, after Alesa's trip to the dentist for a crown, we went to her TBR dragon boat social at the Whispering Oaks winery just west of here. They make blueberry wines.
