It is the first day of Winter so skiing was on the schedule. Jeff and Bailey went up to Ski Roundtop in the morning so Bailey could work out with his ski team.
Trip Log
Yesterday, Lake Hills School had their WinterFest where Santa handed out the gifts we provided, a local church group performed Christmas Carols, The Villages clowns performed and the kids decorated cookies. They all appeared to have a great time.
We did some more Christmas shopping before I had a follow-up doctor appointment then we met the Maloneys for dinner at a recently opened deli on Brownwood Square. After dinner we drove our golf cars up to see the Christmas lights. There is one street that really goes all out.
We had a surprise party for Alesa's birthday at one of the neighbors. Janie and Mike, from across the street have been planning it with me for the last couple of weeks.
We golfed after mass this morning with our usual crew and then played platform tennis for an hour before going to Brownwood Town Center to view an art show. They had local artist set up around the square selling their paintings and photographs.
We went to the Lake Hills School Holiday program where the students performed. All 200 of them performed I groups and paraded, sung, danced and even signed "Let there be peace on earth" while a teacher sung the words. But most of all they smiled and, boy, did they smile.
Today, after watching the Orion launch from our lanai, we took the presents to the school along with a check for their emergency fund, some more clothes, bibs and throws. Later while Alesa paddled I had the muffler replaced on the golf cart under warranty, it was rattling.
Monday we picked up the 200 or so holiday presents the TBR shoppers bought for the students of the Lake Hills School and today we met to wrap them all. It took less than 2 hours and we now have them in the truck for a tomorrow delivery.
All the holiday guests are gone and safely home, but are surely missed. Mike and family visited with Alesa's youngest sister (Michelle) and her family in the Raleigh area for the night before continuing home today.
Wednesday we met Mike and family at Lynn's house in Lakeland where we had a little get together, Zach and family came over and Grandma Niebauer was there. Mike an Tony tended a campfire until late and Alesa and I were home sleeping by the time Mike and family got here for the night.
