Geologically speaking, our world got very flat once we left the front range but it was a lot easier driving on flat, straight interstate 76. We settled into the Cabela's campground in Sidney, NE between the retail store and corporate headquarters.
Trip Log

We went to Boulder to tour Celestial Seasonings tea company. We also revisited the city but kept the visiting to a minimum because the Buffs play Florida State tonight and there are a lot of fans in town. We then drove back into Denver and toured Hammond's Candies and then drove through downtow

We drove across the mountains on route 40 and picked up I-70 about 25 miles west of Denver. We crossed the continental divide at about 11,200 feet. It was a lot of climbing and descending but the views were great. We settled in at Golden and hiked on Dinosaur Ridge, a park we used to go to whe

Today was a quiet day in Steamboat. We woke up to frost but it warmed up to 80 during the day. We did what we wanted to do, I fished and prospected for gold on the Yampa and Alesa rock hounded. I caught a few good sized ones but put them back and have a few flakes of shiny yellow stuff. I'm s

We hopped on I-80 and drove through 175 miles of the Great Basin. Mile after mile of large dried lake beds. We are now in Winnemucca (Say it!). We are at the same campground we stopped at over 20 years ago with Mike & Jeff when it was a KOA. It is pretty calm today but back then it was so

We crossed the mountains again today but the road wasn't as steep or winding. There was a haze all day due to the wildfires near Susanville and it got worse as we got closer. We couldn't get a good picture of Mount Shasta or of Mount Lassen when we stopped at the volcanic park. Mt.
