October 19, 2021

Sailed to the town of Vernon during lunch then boarded a bus for a very short trip to Guiverny to tour Monet's garden and home. It was a short bus trip because one of the optional tours was to bike to the garden from the boat.

A charming village where we stopped on our way to Vernon and Monet's Garden. We walked on our own into town and saw the castle which served as Rommel's headquarters during WWII. Then back to the ship through the town's fruit garden.

October 18, 2021

Decided to stick close to the ship. Walked across the river to get pictures of Lady Liberty then into town for some shopping, We returned to the ship for rest and relaxation. There is a lot of activity on the boat this evening and we are sailing down the Seine to our next destination.

Took a bus tour of Paris this morning stopping at Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. We walked artound the Notre Dame sight but our favorite part was the drawings the children made of Notre Dame after the fire. Saw all of the main sights with a local perspective.

October 17, 2021

Arrived at our ship and our luggage had arrived. We ate lunch and I took a short welcome tour of Paris and Alesa unpacked her stuff and napped. We are in a beautiful location between the Eiffel Tower and Lady Liberty (smaller version of the Statue of Liberty).

Tres Grand Vitesse, the high speed train. Woke up extra early this morning to have our luggage outside our door by 6AM. At 9:45 we took a bus to the Lyon train station for a 2 hour 12 minute trip to Paris 290 miles away.

October 16, 2021

Walked into town on a tour to see the city and stop off at a number of shops for a taste of pastries, cheese, chocolate and hoeur d'oeuvres. Then back to the ship for a farewell toast with the captain and to pack for the transfer to the next boat via the train.

Onto another bus and off to Beaujolais wine country about an hour north of Lyon. Stopped off for a short walk around the commune of Beaujeu, for which the area and wine are named, then off to the Vigneron winery for a walk in the vineyard and wine tasting.

October 15, 2021

Our ship arrived in Lyon early this morning and docked right in town. We took a bus tour which drove through the city to the top of the hill 0verlooking the city. We toured the basilica there then enjoyed the panoramic view of Lyon and then back to riverside for a walking tour of the old city.
