We left home on Friday morning and spent the night in Ft. Chiswell, Virginia and drove to Erie yesterday morning. Mike and family toured Penn State and Pitt on their way from Philly and met us at Barbato's for a late lunch.
Trip Log
We took the boys to breakfast at Billy's Café then a few rousing games of shuffleboard before retreating back to the air conditioning. We visited a little more as they prepared to leave to catch a 5 o'clock flight back to Philadelphia.
Jeff and Alesa headed out this morning to play platform tennis while Mike and I prepared for the day. Craig and Janet showed up as Alesa was getting home so we all went down to Fenney (the newest village) to play pickleball. It has been especially hot and humid so these were tough games.
Mike has been in Mt. Dora for a couple of days and he picked Jeff up at the airport last night and they arrived here to celebrate my 70th birthday. They arrived before 8 so we all took a golf cart ride down to Brownwood to see Scooter the DJ and then back home to plan (sort'a) their visit.
Finally getting some real rain. It has been months, the ponds are low and, as of yesterday, we are under a Phase III water shortage and can only irrigate once a week and they are adding a 10% surcharge on the water used. Maybe this rain will let them remove the restrictions.
Had my semi-annual cardiologist appointment last week and everything looks great. Alesa had a dentist appointment this week and her tongue worry was diagnosed as 'burning tongue syndrome', uncomfortable, but of no danger. Craig and Janet were up for Memorial Day and played pickleball.
Had my doctors appointment yesterday and all looks very good and he released me for all normal activity. Didn't tell him I have been golfing, pickleballing and playing platform tennis, carefully, for the last 3 weeks.
We have been busy and I am continuing my recovery. All is well and my doctor's appointment is next Wednesday and we are hoping he releases me to resume normal activity. The Dawsons are back in Erie and we have golfed a couple of times with Bunnie who will be heading north in a week or two.
This week is the annual Senior Games here in The Villages. Alesa competed in mixed doubles platform tennis yesterday and won a gold medal for her age group. Gene and Connie Fales took us to dinner at the Oakwood Smokehouse on Wednesday as a thank you the help we have given them.
Seven weeks since my back surgery and things continue to be great. Playing platform tennis, pickleball, swimming and golfing all at a greatly reduced level. Probably doing more than I should before my 12 week recovery is up but am being very careful.
